AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

So for the past few months I've been on this serious ambient tip. I've been leaning more towards the older more organic stuff like Tangerine Dream and of course Brian Eno. But i've also been wearing out my Global Communication CD and this I mix made with songs by Aphex Twin, The Orb and Pete Namlock. Right now I'm basically just looking for more recomendations on good Ambient music, old or new.

Also.. if anyone has any good recomendations on early electronic stuff in the vein of people like Wendy Carlos that would be good too.

Jean Michel Jarre is pretty cool older stuff.
I appreciate all the recomendations everybody. I'll definately be doing my homework. I haven't heard the new Eno and Byrne yet. I was feeling My Life in the Bush of Ghosts so I'm sure I'll make my way around to the new one sooner or later.
This isn't helpful to you at all, but I saw The Orb live when I was really high on shrooms. The lights for that performance was amazing.
That's cool. It'll probably never happen to me so I'll have to live vicariously through your experience.

Did that once for a Laurie Anderson concert film. It was awesome.

Global Communications FTW! :-D

But if you want to hear more ambient stuff,  Isuggest hearing some stuff Ghost Box Records. The Sight Below and Jon Hopkins are great choices, too.
