AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

You know, sometimes it seems that when you least expect good things to happen... there they are... Happening unexpectedly and in a good way. A lot of people in this world will tell you "That's Jesus’ work...” or "That’s God's work.” Is there something against good things just happening? I mean do we have to attribute it all to God, or Jesus?
Life takes us down some paths that sometimes we don’t wanna go, but we never know until we get there. For most that find themselves at that point, we wanna ask for God/Jesus’ help. It's too late if you find yourself in a dimension that’s not physical or in a barred box dealing with stunted growth. What is it with finding a religion while being incarcerated? Could it not be found while having freedom?
The youth today aren’t looking for answers, because they have already know what the question is...
"What can I get away with?” The world has not shown them any different than that of what they are asking.
The world likes to preach about things that it doesn’t follow, and the followers only preach about things that are the world.
So is it a wonder that there are atheist?
We live in times where those who have not even the slightest about who or what God is are raising children.
It's not that they are Godless on purpose, rather... the are unreligiouse due to circumstance. So they have to prosper as the way they are learned, and taught.
I think that within these people there is a freedom that a lot have a hard time believing in, because they (the non-believers) have to have a vice to cope and deal with the world as it is. They want to have someone or something to blame for their misfortunes or fortunes.
Being free of religion doesn’t make you Godless; it just makes you unpopular. Since we live in a society of people dying to be popular, its look at as being odd not wanting to be popular.
Let me know what you think....

Ha! Ha! Thats very true also! For some reason I'm hearing a song by "Depesh Mode" called "Personal Jesus" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZEuzxM3_Uk

I guess I can say we both agree that God is being used as a coping, cop out, or convenient way to deal with reality.
I've even found that in the past 2 decades or so, dying to be a martyr has become the fashionable trend.
Meaning, godless and pointless aims have somehow risen to the top, only to fall at the fingerless hands of their own grips.
And associated minions that knew the perp was up to no good, have and still give their fallen praises as if they did a great duty /service to their communities and society.
I can tell you that I see it just about every two blocks in some hoods around here. At least three to four poles, fences, or gates with teddy bears and fake flowers wrapped around them with faded R.I.P. notes and letters. And if you have ever actually read the notes at a "sidewalk memorial" you will see things like, "U wit God now!” and "God Bless" amongst other notes of remembrance. It's melancholy duality, sadly happy, and happily sad. People feed off the drama of losing one anti, to another that just simply couldn’t do the math. Afterward, God is usually pulled in to the reasoning behind heinousness as if the involved party even had sense of it.
I like this thread a lot. I have a slightly different take on the whole "God" thing but I've been up all night trying to write pitches and put together blog posts so I'm kind of running on empty and can't really add anything coherent to some of the deep thoughts that have already been expressed. I applaud both of you. But I've been up all night and part of my night/morning has been spent listening to "Penn says" just because I like listening to Penn. He's an atheist and a libertarian and I have always flirted with freedom of speech but like I said elsewhere I try to remain rational about why the "other" side sees things the way they do but anyway, I like his p.o.v on this wonderful world of not believing God- not just a God, the concept of God, period.

Check out some of his vids on the subject of being an atheist. Every time I feel a lot alone I make time to expose myself to people who share my same beliefs so I know there is something better out there.
Athiesm is boring. I like to explore Epistemology, it's better, it makes you feel even more unique.

I'm not in it for the "Activity" of being an atheist.
