Dearly departed... I mean you AP goths...
I don't know what made me remember this but having done so, I'm thinking, a goth would find it interesting so I will relate it to you. In doing so I hope to encourage others to share what ever it is, that they think would intrest a goth.
It was about mid day, I was at a friend's house in his back yard getting tools out of a shed when I heard this loud clapping sound. I looked around wondering what the fuck was up. The sound got louder and louder and as I listened to it, I realized that what I was hearing was the sound of horses walking in the street.
We don't have any cops on horse back in Newport News so I knew it wasn't that. As I continued to hear the sharp crack of horse shoe hitting hard asphalt, I ran to the front of the house to look in the street. What I saw tripped me the fuck out. It was an old time hearse drawn by a team of two horses, coming my way.
It was a lot like the one in the picture below except it was tan colored. The two drivers up front were white men dressed in clothes from the period. The clothes weren't black either, they were light, pastal colors_ complete with matching tophats and the horses were light colored as well, one gray and the other tanish/yellow. It definately wasn't the kind of thing you see everyday rolling through the hood_ talk about pimp my ride!
I have a causal aquaintance with a guy who works at a graveyard not far from my friend's house. When next I saw the guy I asked him if they had a funneral involving a wagon drawn hearse but he didn't know anything about it. I never could find out where the hearse came from or where it was going. Nonetheless, it was a sight to see.

:D
I'd get rid of the cop lights and the bat wings and store them in your garage... at the lion house..
Permalink Reply by 1truCadenza on February 4, 2012 at 9:36pm lol youre such a bully :D i would take the bat turrets though and attach them to a bed...perhaps my future sons bed will be a baby batmobile :D! that would be so cool. and my lion house is awesome :3 you know you wish you had one.
I like the bat wings too but like you, I'd try to find something better to do with them, maybe some funky abstract sculpture in the front yard, I don't know but I'd come up with something. As for "your house", you're right, if I had it I'd be showing it off to everybody_ that's my house goddamn it! I'd have a sign in the front window too, "My house will eat your house for breakfast."
Permalink Reply by 1truCadenza on February 5, 2012 at 1:50pm that would be pretty awesome. you could put then on the outside of an observatory :3
Permalink Reply by 1truCadenza on February 10, 2012 at 8:10pm the best graveyard iv seen here in georgia was in savannah. but it sometimes tends to easy scare me. there's alot of built up energy there.
Graveyards? No she didn't say, relaxing in graveyards!
Have you ever slept over night in one?
I was homeless several years back and during the summer months, I had the brilliant idea of sleeping in a local graveyard that I was in the habit of going to, to chill out in, anyway. Never thought I end up "living there" but that's what I did for several months off and on. It was a great experience for me, surely something a goth would find interesting.
Don't get me wrong, being homeless sucks raws eggs but in the spirit of making the best out of a bad sitiutation... like I said, sounded like a brilliant idea to me.
There was a spot about 100 feet into the cemetery that had four short, stubby trees planted together in a square, It looked like a bed with a canopy over it, the way the top of the short trees came together shading the area within. There were no graves inside it but directly behind it were three and there were graves on both sides. I found a couple of couch cusions and had a sleeping bag which I laid on top of them and slept inside the four tree-bedpost. That was my primary spot but I also had another which was more hidden. The one among the four trees was about 30 or 40 feet from one of the main, gravel covered roads that run through the place. The cemetery is of a fair size, I always ride a bike when I go there and had my bike with me when I was homeless as well.
Anyways, I am a Satanic mystic and consider Lucifer to be female and consider graveyards as Her "houses", so I figured there was no safer place to sleep than in my "mother's house". My worse case scenario however was to be in the cemetery late at night sleeping and have a group of young, dumb asses come up on me_ I mean, hell, it could happen right? Intresting thing: on the night of Mother's Day, my worse case scenario came true and only went to prove just how safe I was.
Now you might think there isn't a whole lot of traffic in a graveyard at night_ you'd be right but there is some traffic and it's regular enough. Further, considering that if the cops catch you in one after dark, you can get a charge, so when the occassional car showed up I made sure to turn out my LED flashlight if I was reading and not attract any attention. The darkness was my best cover though, in daylight, I could easily be seen from the road. Anyway, Mother's Day night saw more traffic coming through then ususal and at one point a car came in, went on by me and into the heart of the graveyard and stayed for a minute. There was only one way for a car to come in so I had to keep in mind that I wasn't alone and spot the car on its way out to be sure when it leaves.
After a while the car came back. It was moving slowly on the road. Then it stopped, the 30 or 40 feet directly in front of me on the road.
Car doors opened. I heard voices, they were young guys, I heard one of them boasting that he wasn't afraid to be in a graveyaard at night. It was four of them. They all got out and a second or two later, two of them started walking my way.
As they got closer, I thought they saw me so, not wanting to take whatever was coming lying down, I sat up.
Needless to say, I scared the shit out of them. As it turned out, they hadn't even noticed me until I sat up.
Long story short: they turned out to be cool, one of them even gave me some money_ which I didn't need but I wasn't going to risk offending him with he and his buddies standing all around me. They were amazed that I could sleep in the graveyard at night. One guy said I must have a clear conscience. Not sure what he meant by that.
On another occasion I had five police cars_ count em, five_ come through the graveyard. All of them had their spots llights on, sweeping the area as they went, obviously looking for someone. I just knew I was going to jail. I lay still as one of the beams of light came my way. I'm sure they saw me but they never stopped, they kept on right pass me. Minutes later they all came back out and left.
I think the reason they didn't fuck with me is because they didn't realize what they were looking at when they shined the spotlight my way. A few of the graves have sand bags and construction derbies around them, I think, with me in a sleeping bag and not moving, that's probably what they thought I was.
Either that or it's was like I said: my mother's house was the safest place for me to be.
Another thing that I did during my time in the streets which might interest a goth is that I started to feed a flock of crows and became friends with one of them_ sort of. Crows are very intelligent birds. I'll save that story for later.
Permalink Reply by 1truCadenza on February 12, 2012 at 10:18am i think when he said you must have a clear conscience was probably something more along the lines as i know ive done nothing to deserve the wrath of the universe :D like tell tale heart by poe. and ill just put this out there im not really all too keen on the goths and poetry thing. i prefer my poetry to truly stay lyrical and move energy through music.
