Houston punks: a few of us are planning a meet and greet either on the 18th or 19th perhaps in the Montrose area. If you are on Facebook, here is the link to the group but I think you have to be invited into it, so just add me on Facebook and I can add you to the group or something:

I really want to get this going! I'm sure we can all agree that we'd love to meet more ppl like us. Most likely, the Facebook group will be updated more than this site, but I'll probably come back on here and fill anyone in who may not be in the group.

Me and my friends go to SXSW every year. As the time gets closer you find out about the good showcases. It's best to try to catch the day shows because they are usually free. You can get away with seeing most of your favorite bands for free if you plan things right.

FYI, I've gotten a few responses about meeting up. There's a show I'm thinking about going to on the 19th but it's not clear what the venue is. Last I heard it could possibly be at Walter's. I'll keep you posted. There's also another TX AP page on here that I basically write double on.

I just had a thought about SXSW. Does anyone in the Houston area normally attend? Anyone in the Austin area or anywhere in TX planning on attending? What bands do you normally see or plan on seeing? I've gone for the past few years, since 2010, but my plans are up in the air for this year.

To all my fellow Afropunkers in the Houston area: evidently there are a handful of us on here, will we ever pull together and meet up? Obviously we joined this group to connect, but to my knowledge no one really has. Just talks but no action! Hey, it's now 2013 and I think it would be a good idea to get the ball rolling and start to hang out. I mean, we do want to meet other people like us right? Then why haven't we?!

I'm down for setting a date or meeting up at a show sometime in the near future, but everyone has to want to do it. If not, what's the point in being on this site, and a member of this group?

If you're in the Houston area on 12/21 and like metal, you should see this awesome lineup of about ten bands or so at Fitzgerald's. One band, "Eagle Claw" I guess would be Afropunk (they have a black bassist). Hope to see you guys there, here's the facebook event..

Yeah I understand that, cause here it's like you're supposed to "grow up" after a while or something. Well I'd say just hang out at some of the bars/venues in Montrose

Hmm I hope so...so far I'm really missing Austin! I know there's a lot to do here but It's no fun by yourself. I've been trying to link up with people at the skatepark but they're all so young...
