AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

afropunk 2013

Mine is Tsu Shi Ma Mi Rae. They are sexy and can play their asses off. The live show is great. They toured with Suicide Girls burlesque a few years ago, and totally upstaged them in my opinion.

the late great Hellchild

they had one of the must brutal vocalists ever Tsukasa Harakawa. He sings in Swarrrm now.

My favorite current visual kei band is Versailles. I wasn't even listening to that stuff anymore til they came out.

I also love Buck Tick, the Pillows, Melt Banana, Flagitous Idiosyncracy in the Dilapidation, Unholy Grave and Coffins(I've seen all of them live except for B-T)

and props to MAD BUTCHER for the AION video.
"rise and war" is classic shit.
Guitar Wolf is bad-ass, but some others I like are; The Boredoms, and their offshoot projects/bands, The Ruins, Mono, Ex Girl and tons of others,,,,
SUPERCAR!!!!
Yellow Magic Orchestra!
I'm in love with everything Shiina Ringo! She's an all time favorite of time. Also a big fan of Merii.
Uchuu Sentai Noiz!
Aweesome
Dir en grey and D are defnitely my favorites right now.
I love the look of D and Malice Mizer. I love the dark look. D'espairsRay's look too.
Dir en grey is THE JROCK band. They are the best jrock band in my opinion.
I love D's look...

I go back-and-forth between Zeni Geva and Melt-Banana and when I'm more ladiout and draped in dark inside and out (or writing), I put on Boris, Haino Keiji, KK Null's solo and collabo effs or some ambient, less masochistic Merzbow. Ive Guitar Wolf and Peelander-Z a cpl times and nobody (except Bad Brains!) brings the energy to the table and pulls it out of every individual crowd member like the Japanese!

Supercar, Asian Kung-Fu Generation, and The Band Apart...but hands down, Supercar is the best!
