WHITE PEOPLE MUSIC??????

While riding the A train (BK baby!), some idiot who was trying to run some LAME game at at me (while i was listening to my ipod...) heard what I was listening to and had the audacity to tell me he didnt want to talk to me anymore cause I like that "white people music"...Anyone else ever got accused of worshipping the white devil by listening to white people music???

I guess its old news, im just shocked because I thought rock, electronic, punk, hip hop, etc has merged into a horrible mess (ie : kanye) , and people where more open minded. I guess not. Since when did music get its own race?

Whats the alternative afro scene like in Alabama?

I Don't see people have such a problem with that. If a white kid goes bumping along to hip hop nobody bats an eye anymore but god forbid a black person listens to rock or metal. BLASPHEMY!!

Hell, as Ice T (I think) once said, Black people invented rock & roll.

Don't get it anywhere near as much now as back in the '70s & '80s... Black folks in general are not nearly as xenophobic as they were back then. Or maybe people are just less likely to be obnoxious/confrontational with a semi-respectable looking goth matron than with a skinny little 20-something punkette. And when I'm wearing my work clothes (African) and cranking Metallica they are prolly too confused to even come up with any stupid comments.
We still got a ways to go, but overall there is more acceptance now... I mean, my students (5th graders) all adore Hannah Montana for chrissake, and my nieces & nephews all listen to every vapid white pop singer whose name I can't even remember. Except for the emo niece (only interesting one out of the whole bunch of intimidating little overachievers LOL).

Very off topic sorta, but today I had a similar "incident" happen on the train with black isrealites. They told me I love the white race more than more own and I should be raped. I The reason why: I was wearing blue nail polish...??? Im confused, are white people the only ones who can wear nail polish? The really f'''ed up part was they rode the train with me for 25 very long minutes.

I think the counterpoint to this is the metal fans that used to come up to me and tell me:
