AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

I am so sick of my friends and co-workers with the damn nappy hair comments. I guess they think it's ok because the comments are not directed towards me. They say things like "I don't like my hair nappy like this I need a perm". They even refer to other natural women as that girl with the nappy hair. Oh and Please stop recommending straightening processes to me! Do I look like I give a damn, if I wanted straight hair I would have straight hair! My childs father even told me that I'm making black people look bad. Ugh enough already!

i know rite like seriously. And they be saying it like we're offended by it. like evidently i walked pass a couple of mirrors and cars and was able to see my hair so yea i know how it looks and im pretty comfortable and no im not lazy and ummm maybe ur edges are gettin nappy cuz ur hair is nappy? lol they make me laugh
Weird that were are picked on, just because we are being ourselves.... I dont need long hair to show the real me,i am strong and selfconfident,i don't need the hair. Besides,i look fine natural. With most people is just ignorance,or just being shallow. It's easier and more acceptable for them to understand when you got long flat hair like them.In my case it doesn't happen often,i actually get a lot of positive comments most of the time. I don't care about the few who don't like it,and i tell them straight in their face. I am not trying to be someone that i am not!
there's nothing more beautiful than natural beauty.

I work with one other lady, but she's also natural.  Gladly, I've noticed a great difference in my treatment as I've gotten older and it has become more fashionable.  My hair has pretty much always been natural I come from a strongly anti-straightening family who raised me to be proud of being natural.  That said; it was hard for a number of years being around black peers (especially females), who would often, not necessarily in an intentionally offensive manner try to pressure me into straightening it.

i love that lol

lol

I'm natural and rock the hell out of it! and dont care what no body thinks or says about it,  now i will say i crenge up when i see other naturals not keeping the fros up right lol ( u gotta keep it shaped up, trimmed and healthy seriously!)Us naturals are comfortable with the hair God gave us, and were not afraid of wearing it with out the wigs and creamy crack on our scalp..we one of the only races that define ourselves and other ppl by what we/they wear and how they wear their hair..it's a shame!! but i get out of your many boxes, i get out!

Nothing is more beautiful than a natural hair !!
