... the other Black experience

Hey guys I've been transitioning since August 2009 and im still not ready to do the big chop b/c i haven't gotten the hang of keeping my hair moisturized. I'm so lazy but I hate perms so im never going back so im gonna make this work. I use Jane Carter products and they seem to work but i have very dry hair/ scalp so I guess I should deep condition more. But how do you make it, what works, or who sells a good one?

I've heard of hot coconut oil by itself. Never had the pleasure of enjoying it.
I used to use Henna and Placenta masks that you get in the little packets at drug stores. Not natural but they seemed to work for me. I use this tea Tree conditioner in a green bottle- I'm having a brain fart and can't think of what other stuff I posted in here. Look for thick cream conditioners. Hot oil treatments can be done too. If you google it, it will jump out at you. Ayurveda (indian medicine/healthy/beauty) has a lot of readymade masks and recipes.
I really nice one is the Organic Root stimulator replenish pack. Or you can use pantene pro-v relaxed and natural moisture plus. Or you can rub some raw shea butter on it after washing. you can also go on BGLHonline.com It's a really nice natural hair weblog and she gives lots of awesome suggestions.
Karen's Body Beautiful (karensbodybeautiful.com) has a hair mask. I love it. Kinda expensive, but a little goes a long way. I will have to try the coconut oil.
I've tried a deep conditioner by Aussie. Leave it in for like 3 minutes. Smells soooo good. Has tea tree oil in it.
I forgot how awesome Ganrier Fructis cream conditioner in the jar is. And Aussie in the upright tube. Whatever it's called.
no idea i just leave burts bees in my hair overnight and the results are spectacular.
shea butter is AMAZEBALLS! i use it for my skin and hair :)

AVACADO!

i put it in my hair, mixed w/ some honey, a little glycerin, a little coconut oil, and a little olive oil. Then saran-wrap my hair, get my blow dryer and heat it underneath the saran-wrap and wash it out.

but if u just used avocado that would be fine.

i like more natural remedies than things with sulfates and mineral oils and ish i can't pronounce.

*****as a side note*****
i also wash my hair and body with blacksoap (sometimes the liquid or bar, but the REAL nasty lookin' ish-in-a-bag looking ones are the best. REALLY good if you have acne scars.

shea butter is nice, works for some, for others not so much.

vegetable glycerin and water is the best in the summer, it holds in moister without being greasy. So soft :) good for hair and skin :)
Where do you get your black soap?
