AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

Did anyone watch the Grammys last night? Okay...what did M.I.A have on? I hope after all that droppin' that she finally dropped that baby! And poor Whitney...she looked amazing. But either she was on something last night or the drugs have had a lingering affect on her mind/mouth coordination? What did ya think? I liked Coldplay's performance...but I love them and they really can't do any wrong. I am still mad at the Grammy organization not recognizing the underground circuit though.

I havent watched the grammys in years. I still wanna go to them someday tho.
Radiohead's performance was cool. I wanted T.I. to win one 'cause his album is good and he's about to get locked up. I thought M.I.A.'s polka-dots were kinda cute. Didn't get to see Whitney, started watching it late.
The Grammys BLAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!:(
Ike & Tina all over again.

Is it just me, or do Rihanna and Chris Brown seem to already have something deeply tragic about them? Shame about folks who get so big and famous when they so young and stupid....

"Who gives a fuck about a goddamn Grammy?!?!!!"
MIA looked interesting. Actually part of me thought it was SO cool that she is ready to have the baby and she STILL rocked it up onstage with her belly hanging out. Right on girl. The only other time I saw a pregnant woman that big and far along was this old punk band called Big Baby that opened for L7 about 6 years ago. The singer was up there with a tube top and low rise pants on with a HUGE babybelly. Whoa. And a feather boa for decoration.
ME TOO, Starla.

I didn't watch the Grammys, but I did see what M.I.A. had on via a few webpages. It was pretty comical, but she's still fire. I love her style and originality.

I remember back in the day, the big award shows were big events for me. So big in fact, that the next day at school, we'd all be talking about the show. Now, I can take 'em or leave' em. Most times, the only way that I know they're on is if I'm at home flipping channels and run past it by mistake.

One of my funniest memories as a teenager was when my ex-friend and I got all dressed up, showed up at the Shrine Auditorium and tried to sneak into the Grammys!! laughter (or maybe it was the American Music Awards...)
We figured that since we already "looked like rock stars", we could just blend in with the crowd and walk in--and then just take a random seat in the audience. The furthest we got was standing by some window where celebs were standing, having drinks. I distinctly remember that "new guy" in the Commodores walking over to shut the drapes.

I don't know if we actually thought we were going to get away with it, but it sure was hilarious coming up with the idea and trying to carry it out.
You guys should have tried to have your "red carpet" photos taken...I can imagine an editor going through the proof and being like..."Who are these motherf*&ers?!" That would have been great.
