AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

I just started school for medical assisting and have a couple of things I shouldn't say conflict about but its making rethink my inking future...my teacher bought up last week that I shouldn't had on to my arm if I planned on morking in the medical field...I made the remark "that's what long sleeves are for" she told me I would be surprised of people in the profession I'm going to school for...so my question is...would you stop your inking future for your career?? Or do you think everything should have a happy medium??

How old is your professor? Traditionally tattoos have been seen as a rebellious in nature and will make some think you will try to buck the system at any given opportunity. Times change though. Not everyone sees them that way now, but there are still those who do. But you'd be surprised by the people who do have tattoos. Certain parts of the country tend to be more conservative than others. I have a gang of tattoos but they are pretty much covered in anything I would wear to my day job.

Is your arm already tattooed?
My teacher...I would say is about late 30s early 40s...she also a medical assistant to...I already knew going into the program that I would probably have to wear long sleeves once I gotten a job...had no problem with that...but I think she just looked down on people that have so many tats and have ones that are more visable...I already have one on my left forearm...but plan on making it a full sleeve soon...
