@ roxy stardust -- there are definitely some out there, but a couple stand-out strong for me. Jacci Gresham was THE FIRST Black sister to kick down the doors of the "old boys club" of tattooers. She was the first to do professional tattoos and cultivate her own studios. She's an elder now and she's been slinging ink for well over 30 years. Her home base is New Orleans (I specifically sought her out when I moved down there in the late 90s for my first piece). She lost 2 of her studios in Katrina, but she fought back hard to revive her Rampart Street studio (AART Accent Tattoo) off the French Quarter and she's still going strong. Sweet, wise woman. Great stories, great talent. She should be up there with Jack Rudy, Sailor Jerry and all the other so-called big names as an originator and pioneer. The other stand-out fave in my heart is Teresa3D. She works out of Black Orchid Tattooing in Burbank, Cali. Amaaazing artist. If you can afford a trip to see either of these women for work it's totally worth it. Here's hoping there are many more inspired sisters out there (maybe working waaay "under the radar" in our various cities). I'm gonna go and pay my yearly visit to Musink in a week or two down in OC, who knows what talent will be brewing.

Quick question - any of you guys have recs for tattoo artists in the NYC/NJ/Philly area? I've found a few that I like, but I always like hearing about artists that have experience with AA skin.

@ c.g i've never been "branded," but i have had a cesarean section and the smell of burning flesh was sickening for me.

theres never to much going on here for the amount of memebers, it's kinda odd.
i was going to ask for opinion . . . im not sure theres any point not sure anyone here is even into branding or scarification.
i'm off to ask a tattooist...

anyone know of any black female tattooists in camden?.... lonshot,i know

it's odd i know but i dont think i could handle the smell of my own flesh burning? thing thats why i rather the scarification (skin removal or with the tattoo pen) burning flesh??

cattle get branded, no?

the smell of human flesh burning is likened to pig flesh. apt it smell like a sweeet pork. nice:-|

@ kala... i have both my tragus' pierced and i love em... i recommend... but i love my anti-tragus more
