Hi everyone! My name's Imani (ipukekawaii).

I am an international tattoo artist from the DC area with a fine line specialty for dark skin. My panache is Japanese-inspired, whimsical, and illustrative styles.

My atelier, Little INKPLAY Shop, is a private tattoo studio and kawaii (cute) culture hub and I have recently launched a tattoo blog, HELLO #TATTUESday, that is for melanin by melanin ~

Feel free to stop by any time to check out my work!

Very nice to meet everyone! <3

I got my first tattoo on my shoulder over spring break, cliche I know but the symbol was not. I had wanted a tattoo since high school and when I moved away for school I worked on my parents every week. I would just randomly tell them i had a tattoo to gauge their reaction/make them numb. Then one of my mentors in the engineering department started telling us about Adinkra symbols and their meanings. I went to look them up and I found Nyame Dua. It represented God's presence and protection in life and I wanted it as a constant reminder. So while on spring break i got it done and haven't look back.

Now i'm looking for my next one but I don't know what or where I want it :)

I got a Dead Milkmen tattoo in April! Dave Blood was the first musician to ever write me back & I've always loved those guys. March was the 10th anniv of his death. The same week as Dave Brockie/Oderus Urungus of GWAR. the next one will be either a fistpik or a lotus. The real fancy piece I want is of my Mommy's name, bday & flowers.

Soooo My band Severed Tether will be playing at the battle of the bands in New York on June 5th!!!! Which means I will be in New York for a couple days and I'm totally available to do tattoos while I'm there! Shoot me a message here or on facebook so we can set up the details.

btw..... Severed Tether needs some crowd participation to advance to the next round, so stop by and show some love for one of the few METAL acts competing!

@CH1KLT676 surface bars are always a good bet for something like that but because of the wrist being a high movement/contact area, PTFE is the better option in my opinion. PTFE is the surgical grade plastic you were referring to. With any surface piercing, there is always a chance of rejection. Dermals are also a good option but they rip out easily. I had an info graphic i was going to share with you but i cant seem to find it anywhere. :/

I want to re pierce my wrist. I had a surface piercing and it rejected. Does anybody have a wrist piercing and is it dermal? Also I was thinking about surgical grade plastic this time. Does anyone know if thats a good idea or not? If you can recomend a great place to go I can fly anywhere.
