I used to carry his records, and other duties when I was a member of Zulu Nation. Haven't seen him since the early nineties, I think. 

Though he was certainly one of the architects of what would eventually become Hip Hop, "real Hip Hop" is not a term he'd likely use to describe his music. Bam called it "Electro-Funk" or "Electro Rap". Though I guess when you measure it against today's music masquerading as "Hip Hop", I can understand where you're coming from.
