Isn't it time to recognize addiction for what it is (a way to try - in vain - to escape painful emotions), instead of glamorizing it?
Addicts deserve our respect and empathy, but there's no need to encourage them in their addiction. - L C-D

Comment by Mamadoc on January 2, 2013 at 3:10pm: They don't always render a person completely out of touch with reality but they can definitely alter one's perception of reality and I do think that the majority of addicts do it to escape.
