life after midterms for stacey abrams & andrew gillum
Thought the 2018 elections were the last time we’d hear from Stacey Abrams and Andrew Gillum? Guess again. The dynamic pair of politicians who just a few months ago were in the running for the Governorship of their respective states — Abrams in Georgia, Gillum in Florida — aren’t going anywhere. Much to the surprise of Democratic voters and progressives alike, Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer invited Abrams to give the Democratic response to next week’s State of the Union address! Abrams will appear immediately following (not our) President Trump’s nationwide address to issue the SotU as the Dems see it. Her presence alone is set to signify that Democratic Party sees a representational present and future for America, contrary to Trump’s anti-immigrant and rabid racist outlook.
Across town, Andrew Gillum’s admirers will be pleased to know that they too will be able to get a dose of the electrifying politician — on CNN, where he has taken a job as a pundit. “Thrilled to be joining CNN as a political commentator,” Gillum tweeted.
