The story of Romona Moore should have been a rallying cry. A devastating example of the inequality of justice in poor and predominantly black neighborhoods in Bloomberg’s Brooklyn. Kidnapped, tortured, raped, and brutally murdered over 4 days just blocks from Romona’s home, the NYPD ignored her mother’s pleas for an investigation. “They got songs for wanting, songs for sexting, songs for lusting, song for money… But ain’t got songs for you.”

Brooklyn based duo X Black Superheroes have a new song in memory of Romona Moore. It’s a chilling song about the way her story has all but disappeared from public consciousness. Listing an array of song topics singer Sefu Kafele ends each line with a refrain of “ain’t got songs for you.” Now there’s one. There ought to be many many more.
