"Greetings, NT! Like the song, very much.  A heavy (metal?) band with modern production and, more importantly, modern playing. I was once an Atlantan, in the 80's as well, in a series of bands (Synchro System, named after Sunny Ade but…"

Wicked Wisdom - Stuck

"Her haircut looks great, but of course the kids have been rocking it for a couple of years now...and the music sounds like someone from 1988 listening to music from 1975.  So very much of the music on this site is retro-inspired...everybody…"

Dirty South Crew (D.S.C) - MURDERER (Acoustic Version)

"Mixed review: The first song does nothing for me...the suits and the setting remind me of the band in the subway in Luc Besson's Subway, and that was 25 years ago...and although it is a pleasant enough samba-reggae-lite, why would I (or anyone…"

"Well...all the right elements, musically, but too safe for my tastes.  It seems all the punches are pulled: 'tasteful' dubby atmospherics, soaring, catchy melodies on The Blast, but no dread, no confrontation...no learning experience…"

RIP Arthur MURRAY

"...With a freewheeling prose style influenced by jazz and the blues — Duke Ellington called him “the unsquarest man I know” —"...The United States is not a nation of black and white people,” Mr. Murray wrote. “Any fool can see that white people are not really white, and that black people are not black.” To him the currents of the black experience — expressed in language and music and rooted in slavery — run through American culture, blending with European and American Indian traditions and…See More

About Me
52 inteligentleman, educated, bilingual, creative. raised outside the u.s. (puerto rico) until college prefer pistols anarchy to clash's dilettantism=but still a fan of London Calling/Sandinista- a firm believer that punk is an attitude, a philosophy not a style...so, godard, kathy acker, noam chomsky...anybody who does good work...when I lived and worked in atlanta in the mid 80's, I had a series of bands, one of which was called 'synchro system' after the sunny ade record, and which we billed as 'afro-punk'...perhaps you get many people saying they thought of the term; I think of it like scientists all working on the same idea independently, using the same resources but not necessarily knowing about each other, and often different laboratories come up with similar results. Anyway, at that time and that place, afro-punk was not the catchy construct it is today, although we're all proud of what we accomplished. Believe we should all know our history...especially the edited-out parts...but as for art, strongly believe Ezra Pound's dictate: 'make it new', and so not much of a fan of retro anything.
