Is it your mind? Exposing the True Owner of Black Thought and Black Face: Which Mask Do you Wear?

I cried tears tonight for a number of reasons. You can say it was sparked by the live showing of the Grammys this evening, January 31st, Sunday night. After heaps of black people went to go shout and rejoice in church pews this morning, they tuned their televisions into another form of mental slavery.Blacks. African-Americans. Niggas. Coons. Slaves. The President of the United States of America. Africans. Negroes........Never represented well, and we gave right back into it tonight.Let me start…See More

Great drop Sis -:) Many Black leaders among them Mary M. Bethune & W.E.Dubois were segregationists. Perhaps, in part, because there is a beauty & love that exists even now in growing up, and being educated among your own folk. As a child I…

It's too Bad that Love is Blind

I put a blindfold on tonight just to symbolize to myself how blind love can make you. When I took it off I was hoping to see something different but I still didn't have any clarity, well not really. I can honestly say that Alicia Keys albums are all therapy. Mainly her first one "Songs in a Minor" and her latest one "Element of Freedom." Alicia has always been one of my favorite artists. I am a starving artist and I will continue to put all of my energies into working to test my creative limitations everyday. I really try to update my blog everyday, my latest post was about finding something new to love everyday. That is true freedom...like flying. Check it out at www.blacksoulrose.blog.com. Until next time, Peace and Blessings!

Historically Black Colleges and Univerisities: A Luxury or Necessity?

Posted on January 25, 2010 at 11:17pm 1 Comment

And I dare to ask, are HBCU’s a Luxury or Necessity? Should they still be in existence? Are they still relevant?

Many scholars have argued that blacks have advanced and the need for these schools have either declined or are no longer needed. Things like Affirmative Action allow blacks to advance in “Corporate America,” so “they” say.

Historically black colleges were started, historically, to educate blacks who would otherwise,… Continue

Soul Evolution

Gimme my

Soul Back

Sold crack, at first

But now it hurts

I can feel the wounds of a thousand men

I feel rejected yet pregnant within

Pregnant with possibility, in the words of Assata

Sisters like that, brothers like this

Make me meditate on my chakras

Put it in a rhyme

Watch me from behind

Watch it, so sublime

Call me anytime

My Soul Evolution was caused by an intrusion

Forced me to come to my own conclusions

And… Continue

Soldier of Love

Posted on January 25, 2010 at 1:35pm 0 Comments

I've been through it all when it comes to love. Call me a soldier 'cause I been fighting for a while now. I should have some stripes. Let me start by saying, this post was inspired by the beautiful, multi-talented Goddess Sade.

Understand, when I speak of being a soldier of love, I'm not just talking about reationships dealing with men that I have loved. I am talking about friends that I have loved and lost, love for my family that sometimes dissapointed me, and the ultimate love for… Continue
