cheryl boone isaacs elected to head the academy of motion picture arts and sciences

August 1, 2013

We’re all up in the Oscars now, ya’ll! Cheryl Boone Isaacs elected by the board of governors to head The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. That’s the Oscar Award. The notoriously white and male organization now has it’s first African-American president. Isaacs is the third woman to be in charge of the Academy in 86 years, following in the footsteps of actress Bette Davis and screenwriter Fay Kanin. Isaacs comes to take over as the current head of CBI Enterprises. She previously served as president of theatrical marketing for New Line Cinema and executive vice president of worldwide publicity at Paramount Pictures. Isaacs will be responsible for selecting a host for the March 2 Oscar telecast. HOLLER!
