PUNK CULTURE EMBRACING TRIBAL CULTURE: TATTOOING, PIERCINGS, SCARIFICATION

Punk culture has seemed to really embrace primitive cultures, or what some call neo-tribalism. The extreme piercings they have been embraced in punk culture, has been praticed for thousand years by i…

The people in Atlanta never seem to travel to far from the stereotypes. The seem to stay in their roles of what is considered the appropriate way of acting, dressing, and being "black." Many people in…

^^^i don't think that's a contradiction :) i love being around people just as much as i love being by myself. aslong as they aren't close minded and simple.

Contradiction?: I like my peace and quiet but I don't mind being in a room full of noisy people or being in a quivering mass. The only time I feel drained is when I hate what's going on and don't care. I actually miss large groups of people. If for…

AGREED. To be able to hold ur head high and refute the euro-centric ideals of beauty as the only type of beauty is mainly for the strong.

short hair is NOT a man thing! You just have to be able to pull it off, wear more earings. It's earthy and beautiful. I miss my super short hair... The way the water would hit my scalp was very relaxing. Being natural is also a mentality. Everyone…

I would also consider myself a loner as well because I prefer quiet time to myself and I like being able to do whatever I want without being obligated to entertain people or having to do something I don't really enjoy. I am also in the position of f…

i think certain people are not strong enough to handle the drastic change. the negative attention or feedback from fam, friends, strangers, prospective mates, etc, it takes a STRONG BLACK WOMAN to wear their god(dess) given hair. IMO by the way lo…

No, don't go to church. Afro, is afro, but punk is punk. This is a main stream... ANARCHY for all colors, let's give a F*** to all stereotypes.

BEWARE. TEXT WALL OF DOOM. I apologize for getting into the conversation rather late and I also apologize if this gets rather lengthy but I can say without a doubt that I agree with a lot of what you said but to add to the sports/music notion, you…

I'm a loner because i can't find anyone to hang out with. Point blank. It's not really a choice, I just don't meet a lotta interesting people that i want in my space.

Cringe. There's a joke I've heard somewhere that I'm reminded of. Would be nice to know if that dude was alluding to the Mad TV sketch (and making fun of himself in a healthy way, too), but somehow I doubt that was the case...

This is why we need to teach young women to respect themselves and teach young men how to respect themselves and others. shit no wonder i like being alone if this is what I have to deal with right??!!

Yeah my girl and I were talking about how these young girls who may have been born to young mothers themselves have no idea what respect they deserve and in turn fall for anything a guy says including "A Yo Bitch!!" Chicks laugh at me when I go on l…

About Me
I'm a college student in Atlanta with dreams to transfer to UCLA and become an mad scientist. bauahahha. I must have been a hippie or revoluntary in a past life, because i have this unfading desire to save the world. Or maybe I was an artist, because i seem to have re-occuring affairs with music, from playing the drums, to now teaching myself guitar, and my mistress is poetry, and not that soft poetry that you write to your girlfriend, that hard hitting, spoken word, poetry, i love going to cafes filled with afrocentric, neo-soul, spoken word artist, blessing the mic with their words and rhythms, and often times, the person i'm describing is me. However i'm married to my camera, taking it everywhere I go. Did i mention that i'm an Explorer, I was looking to discover someone, someplace, or something new. And my camera is always there to capture the action.

Sometimes i'm a Buddhist, and need some silence&mediation, or a good yoga strecth,
Sometimes i'm Christian and just want for someone to save me, Sometimes i'm Rastafari and just want to take part in smoking herbs,
Sometimes i'm a 5 Percenter and believe that I am God,
Sometimes i'm Muslim, and just want to change my name,
I am not religious.... I'm spiritual, we can discuss that deeper later.
You can be my friend if...
I love the difference in people, creative thinkers, rebels, radicals, buddhist, atheist, scientist, activist, revolutionaries, artist, photographers, graphic designers, graffiti artist, piercing and tattoo artist, fashionistas, fashion designers. I love them ALL!

ATLANTA DOESN'T LIVE UP TO THE HYPE? :-/

The people in Atlanta never seem to travel to far from the stereotypes. The seem to stay in their roles of what is considered the appropriate way of acting, dressing, and being "black." Many people in the south, especially African Americans in the south will not try something new until whatever it is becomes a popular trend, popularized by an hip hop artist, and then approved by hip hop culture.

I think back during the times of baggy jeans, and long white tees. My true
ATLiens, will remeber the… Continue

SHE SAY SHE AINT HAPPY BEING NAPPY!!!

Isnt it odd that "Our Natural Hair,Our natural beauty is UnNatural,It is abnormal to be who you are" In the black community it is abnormal to see a Black Woman with Natural Hair.It is just as UnNatural 4 White women to wear their natural hair color, with the popularity of blonde hair and blue eyes,White women are dying their hair blonde and often sometimes adding weave to enhance their beauty. And this is done by many well known celebrites. For example Aubrey of Danity Kane Jessica Simpson,Britn… Continue
