Afrikkka

“Not she dispensed, but took the coated pill.
Cleopatra’s needle fell from hands incontinent
While Ceasar’s feet stamped patterns of his will
On outspread rugs of an enchanted continent.”
-Wole Soyinka (Mandela’s Earth and Other Poems)

“They want the oil
But they don’t want the people”
-Jayne Cortez

“African violet, ain’t you through dreamin’ yet
With all your roots so deep, why are you still asleep”
-Terry Callier

“Dem bring sorrow, tears, and blood . . .
Dem regular trademark . . .”
-Fela Anikulapo-Kuti

Afrika
has given herself out –
world parenting
has did her in –
accommodating
her devilish children
she has nothing left
for herself
turning on herself
murdering herself
crawling on her hands and knees
to reward her riches
to heathen brats
and selfish rats
the racist west
and the racist east
all move in to feast
upon her sweets
while she feels the sting
from Washington to Nanjing

she has loved everyone
but herself
traded her soul
to thieves and tyrant slavemasters
blasphemed the beauty of blackness
she has been crushed and crucified
bowed down to assassins and vampires
allowing her treasures
of wealth, knowledge, and history
to become buried beneath the sands
of racism, fascism, and misery
poisoned by self-hatred
raped, ravaged,
ambushed, bartered, starved, and savaged
her scriptures
stolen, distorted,
declassified, diluted,
dissolved, twisted,
groomed for doom
Mother of Humanity –
Civilization’s womb
her tombs raided
her beautiful locks of hair
burned to be straightened and braided
by hands of demons
in monied salons
her truths absorbed
into the temples of liars
her saviors displaced and discolored

boered and contorted
shunned and made to look retarded

she has no voice
for her own traditions and graces
most ancient wildlife
and mystic places

instructor and teacher
of the Greeks
hoodwinked, crushed
and put to sleep

Maat, CreationMother
Borne Suns from the aether
Highest Queen Isis
Grandmother of Jesus
Our Most Divine Goddess
Tricked into a reverse process
To disgrace what Creation has blessed

she has been tortured and transformed
into an image of poverty and disgrace
used as a heathen tool and marker for race
her children to become a mass of united snakes
with extraordinary renditions and constant fear
to perpetually remind her
that she must remain weak,
dependent, and obedient
to the ruthlessness of sellout dictators
and undermining pirates and tyrants

she surrenders her great resources
for murderous military forces
who only slash her breasts
and in turn reward her
with disease, debt, and death

who remembers the
greatness of Kemet?
who is exposed to the history lessons
of Cheikh Anta Diop?

now, she imitates
her brutal, bloodsucking brats
now she accepts
the images, ideologies,
theocracies, and demanding realities
of these heartless bullies
who lead her to her own destruction,
chaos, and cruelty

Afrika has betrayed herself
and now prays for herself
and displays herself
as a follower and friend
to her barbarian children
and all their reinvented religions
and historic revisions
of angelic demons
who glorify
her bleeding and killing

my Ancestors call me
from that part of Earth Mother
older than any name
my Ancestors tell me
that no hue-man/human
deserves this much hatred, pain, and shame

it is time to end suffering
heal and be clean again
it is time to climb
to a higher plain

it is time
for a miraculous paradigm shift
for this planet’s
wondrous and most holy gifts
