About Me
Yo! Just a shy guy looking to make friends, especially like-minded individuals here (and I do mean individuals). I'm shy, dorky, and awkward, which makes it hard to meet people, especially in L.A.

I'm not African-American (I'm Latino, of Mexican/Chicano/Angeleno heritage, although I do have Afro-Latin roots), but I can definitely relate to the Afro-punk experience.

I believe in solidarity with all people, including punks of all backgrounds, but especially punks of color. As I mentioned, I’m not African-American, but I definitely know what its like to be even less than a minority, especially because of musical taste. I was brought up listening to all sorts of music from day one (including punk, which was self-defining for me), but when I was in my early adolescence (early to mid/late 90’s), I knew hardly anyone my age or in my neighborhood (I grew up in South Los Angeles, where I still live) that listened to rock music, much less punk rock. Even the occasional person my own age who claimed to listen to punk usually didn’t know $hit about the old bands (Sex Pistols, Ramones, Dead Kennedys, Bad Brains, Crass, the Clash, etc). I know Latino punks are somewhat common these days, but they almost didn’t exist when I was a kid (at least none close to my age). The same goes with African-American punks. I know where you all are coming from. Peace.
You can be my friend if...
You are a good, decent person who is smart and aware. I prefer if you are nice, politically conscious, open-minded, and relatively laid back, but these are not absolutely necessary. Also, PLEASE be sane; I've met more than my fair share of crazy people, some of who are still in my life.

I just read your post in a thread. You acknowledged pride in your African roots. You pointed out African physical characteristics in your own appearance with pride and sincerity. The question I then have, brotha, is why do you call yourself NotSoPhotogenic? With all that you described, you're a good looking man. Just wondering. Peace.
