WHO LIKES SOME OF DAT FUNK AND SOUL??

Blaring horns, nasty drum breaks and percussion, and some serious syncopation. Add to that some innovative bass melody chops, chunky/scratchy guitars, sweet soulful vocals with with loud gospel-esque preaching.

Band Question - Sounds like:
If what I'm trying to do is the direction or sound that you're interested in, let me know. Or if you know people that might be. I've had a chance to really boil done some of my my thoughts & influences and I feel like there is an under represented music some where between Afro-Punk & Hip-Hop. I don't know what happened to the more rootsy Black Funk/Rock stuff like Jimi Hendrix Band of Gypsies or early Funkadelic (like their song Super Stupid) but the one thing is when you listen to that stuff there is no confusing it with white rock, that shit just had too much soul, funk & bass. I love Hip-Hop and that's what got me into playing music. After my 3rd roots concert, I was like I want to be Lenny Hubbard. I want my band to be Afro Rock that's influenced by Hip-Hop & be able to blend rock with funk, electronic with roots and represent with a feel like Jimi & Funkadelic did but do it in a modern sense. I use Jimi & Funkadelic as examples because to me they where original, they weren't just James Brown or The Rolling Stones, they kept their sound somewhere in the gray between. I want to stay rooted but still take that shit to other levels & directions. Do the right thing & Holla at a playa.
Band Question - Musical Influences:
I'm influenced by music.
