Profile Information

Name
Kami
About Me
Soft-spoken, radically progressive/progressively radical, music lovin'-tattooed &
dredlock'd old, reclusive punk chick.
You can be my friend if...
You have a pulse (sorry zombies -- love the look, hate the bite). Open minds with a yen for equality and social justice are especially welcome. Lovers of punk, ska and reggae from the 60s, 70s and 80s get extra brownie points. And extra, UBER points if you went to shows at Club COD & Space Place back in the early 80s in Chicago (or even remember when Exit was on Wells street).
Favorite bands:

Favorite Magazines:
Being marginalized has always been such fun. Gabba Gabba Gazette and The Coolest Retard (based out of the early Chicago punk scene) were the first punk zines I was ever into as a budding tween in late 70s Chicago. I've never had ANY use for mainstream women's magazines. 'Bust' was a refreshing change, but sometimes they wade a little too much into the trendy pop culture pool for my tastes. I'll still take them over Cosmo or Vogue, though. I still dig Maximum Rock n Roll, although I was a whole lot more religious about grabbing every issue back in the 80s and 90s. I also tune into Tattoo magazine throughout the year. Just wish there was a more even display of people of color with ink -- and, yes, I'm well aware of Urban Ink, but the way they display/portray tattooed women makes me wanna hurl and rip my dreads from my skull.
Favorite TV shows:
I don't watch a whole hell of a lot of TV, but I've been known to tune in to The Simpsons, The Daily Show, Late Night w/David Letterman and LA Ink. The Munsters, The Mod Squad, WKRP in Cincinnati, Bewitched, Welcome Back Kotter, The Nightstalker, The Twilight Zone, Hawaii 5-O, Julia, Lost in Space, The Partridge Family, Room 222, The Monkees, HR Pufnstuff, Banana Splits and Sigmund and the Seamonsters are among my faves in classic TV.
Orientation:
Straight

Libra
Kids?:
I like being an 'honorary aunt' to my friends kids, but motherhood is not for me

Hey! thanks for the prompt response! I need first person accounts of black punk rockers from back in the day. Bands would also be a great bonus to my cache of information because I would really like to have some music to play as examples during my presentation. Soooooo maybe we can have a message correspondence via this site? I would be so thankful for any pearl of wisdom that you could offer me! Shortly I will send you a brief list of questions to kick off our conversation.

Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!
