Monique Little commented on The Race Card's blog post Voices from the community: being a Black woman in the punk scene
"Doshtrhillenhyd- Cool, i did not know that about the band 'Death' but i do know that rock n roll, which gave birth to punk-was started by blacks and Jimmy Hendrix also was an influence on metal, as well. Hell, we invented the first guitar,…"

"Doshtrhillenhyd- Interesting! So, in Sweden racism does exist. Some Europeans swear that race issues ONLY exist in America lol. Of course, I never believed that. I do not think that I will live long enough to finally see the Egyptians depicted as…"

About Me
I rock, and I'm black. I'm conscious and fully aware of the world around me. I do not believe in a 'raceless' society because I love my race and the uniqueness of it, and there is nothing wrong with that. If you take that as me having some kind of 'racist' mind set...who gives a fuck! This is America not smerfsville, wake the hell up. Let me add- I respect all races, and i like to learn about other cultures, and groups of people. The planet is beautiful because of it's variety, like a garden. How boring it would be if we truly were all the same. So, i am far from closed mined. But love for self and where, and who you come from is totally natural.
Occupation:
Living, getting paid, getting free, staring my own business-So, i don't have to work for 'the man' lol.
Favorite bands:
Alisha Sekmet, FTP, The Blizts, Crass, Oxblood,The Oppressed, ect. Conscious/Truth telling hip Hop, Punk, and Oi(Skinhead). But my taste varies and is constantly changing. I'm a fan of Bruce Springsteen, Garth Brooks (I like country too), The Carolina chocolate Drops, Rusted Roots, Some Spanish music-particularly Mexican music. I'm getting into a lot of Black folk music and Blues from the 1930's too, old timey and ragtime music (I want to know about and explore all black musical art forms, and that includes Rock). I like Bands from The 60's and 50's, and the 60's 'Hippy' era, Indigenous music, ect.
Favorite movies:
Oh boy...let's see- Rosewood, JFK, Tombstone, The God Father 1 and 2, Hairspray, Unforgiven, 3:10 to Yuma, The Usual Suspects, Reservoir Dogs. The first 'SAW', The Japanese version of 'Pulse', The Japanese amine 'Death Note', The Godfather l, and ll. That's all I can think of right know.
Favorite books:
'The Man from Planet Risk', 'Let's set the record straight!', Steven Kings 'Dark Tower', 'Scary Stories to tell in the dark'. I not big of fictional novels (wit h the exception of horror) real life is way more entertaining and suspenseful, pathetic, sad, and wonderful! But i do read the paper, watch a few documentaries, and keep my self informed.
Favorite Magazines:
None (every now and again i'll pick up a magazine based on the out doors, camping, hunting, ect.)
Favorite TV shows:
Boardwalk Empire,The Borgias,Carnival(when it use to come on), The Colbert report. TV is still pretty lame for the most part.
Relationship status:
Free as a Bird.
Orientation:
Straight
Kids?:
Nope.
Smoke/Drink?
yes/yes
