Five girls from London tired with the same old same old decided to cut loose and rock out!!
Queens Of Sheba were formed in late 2010 and are a bunch of guitar-wielding black girls who are breaking with tradition and choosing to play Rock music rather than R&B. With no role models to learn from (who else is there?) they have had to wing it and make it up as they go along.
Featuring seventeen year old pocket dynamo Rita on lead vocals they are ploughing their own furrow and going into the abyss alone... There has never been a rock act of its kind before (we checked!!) and in fact black females in rock are rare. So here they are, Queens of Sheba: the World's first all-girl all-black rock act... But how do they sound? Well, have a listen. All I know is, their three-minute pocket rock symphonies seem to punch you in the face on first listening and, like high grade crack cocaine, leave you strung out tonguing for more.
Is that a good or a bad thing? Like Charlie Sheen, I don't remember... Anyways, Enjoy. Johnny B
Lord Q here, Founder of LA PUNK NOIR andLAPUNKNOIR.com. In an effort to promote Black and Brown bands and artists that don’t fit within the narrow perceptions of mainstream radio, I have started an online show,LPN RADIO. I am writing to ask that your band submit songs and links to your site to be featured on the show.
As you may be aware, LPN is the hub of West Coast Alternative Urban music, news and style. For bands and artists that Black radio has no room for and mainstream radio is afraid of, the LPN platform is available to you. LPN RADIO features alternative urban bands in the genres of rock, punk, metal and alternative hip-hop. I am also interested in introducing your band, via the LPN interview series,Q:15, a daily 15 minute segment, where two songs of featured guests are played, with an interview in between.
If your band is interested in these opportunities, follow the submission guidelines:
Hey ladies! How goes it with you? Are you pulling in the Big Bucks yet? I have my little brown eyes on all of you! (I'm just waiting on you to get rich before I make my move.)
