I am a Danish guy who got charmed by this concept "Afro-Punk". I am so tired of the view that rock'n'roll or metal is "white" music or that this and that is "black" music. People don't know history at all.
I will gladly support this concept to smash the stereotypes. I also support the revitalisation of all rhythmic music as derivatives of jazz, which again, as I can understand, is a melding of African drums and rhythms with the European classical music. Let's not forget the roots of rock'n'roll and hence jazz and blues! Even if this description maybe is a little too oversimplified. Because European classical music is probably derived from European folk music of various kinds. The Spanish word guitarra was derived from Arabic, to Arabic from Persian and again from the Indian string instrument 'sitar'. Obviously the same word. But then again we had mandolins and lutes in Europe for centuries.
But again... jazz and rock'n'roll and all the derivatives always need to be revitalised as the music of the counterculture against the Empire and other authorities - and we always need people to remind other people about it!
Okay, what does that say about me? I am a god damn European white boy. ;-)
Apart from being a fan of rock'n'roll and its history, I am fanatically against all kinds of Dualism (like Cartesianism named after René Descartes). This is the part where I always lose people, because even if people may be firmly in the counterculture against the Empire, they can yet have a dualistic world view, i.e. the view that absolute opposites exist in this Universe. And it can be deficult for most civilized people to face the logical fallacy of dualism.
All advanced "philosophy" and all shamans/witches of our ancestors all through out history have pointed out to us that there is no duality. There is no *this* way completely opposite of *that* way.
Forget all other teachings about objectivity and subjectivity - again a call for duality.
In primordial societies some people, women and men, are natural born "shamans" (druids, witches, wizards or whatever you want to call it). One does not necessarily inherit this "profession". Some people just show certain talents from childhood that are required to become trained as a shaman. Some sort of real natural scientist.
Only a minority become shamans, but they are and always were a crucial part of primordial societies. We all descend from primordial societies, but ever since the emergence of civilization, the natural born shaman class seem to have declined as a crucial and respected part of society. Perhaps they are now misunderstood or just outcasts. Maybe Albert Einstein was one of them.
I wonder if I am one of them as well. At least I am incredibly smart, and I always cared about the future of humanity ever since I can remember. I was always worried, and yet it was as if something spoke to me. Certainly not "God" as in the Bible.
In my view one has to be an evolutionist in order to be a non-dualist. Indeed, I think you must be a non-dualist in order to be a *real* evolutionist. I think this view is the same as primordial animism. Everything - the entire Universe - is in a continuous evolution or change, which makes it a living Universe, like a gigantic organism. Understanding the whole Universe as living will reveal the divinity in everything. Indeed I believe that evolution is actually creative and intelligent. It contains and produce beings. And if you let it (or them), if you can silence your mind a bit, it (or they) will speak to you too!
And now you will probably think I've smoked too much. ;-)
You can be my friend if...
...you are cool!
Student of the Universe.
My absolute favourite bands and musicians:
Band Of Gypsys (Jimi Hendrix), Pink Floyd (Roger Waters era), Sepultura (and yes, Derrick Green era too!), Meshuggah, Laibach, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Die Krupps, John Coltrane.
I grew up with various kinds of music, but Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd proved to me that I was more attracted to that which is both more heavy and more groovy. By a complete coincidence, the German underground industrial group Die Krupps (who were always strongly anti-racist and anti-nationalist) showed me a path to various kinds of music like punk, groove metal, EBM and industrial.
Other bands and musicians that I dig:
Prong, Rage Against The Machine, DAF, Einstürzende Neubauten, KMFDM, Bad Brains, Slayer, Motörhead, Black Flag, Discharge, Diamond Head, Exploited, GBH, Dead Kennedys, Metallica, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, J.S. Bach, Santana, Deep Purple, Stravinsky.
And probably a lot more that I just forgot!
The Shining (Stanley Kubrick)
Das Totenschiff (The Death Ship, B. Traven)
The Science Delusion (UK) aka Science Set Free (US) (Rupert Sheldrake)
Charles S. Peirce
Favorite TV shows:
I hate TV!
Under a permanent deal with Aya. That is the way of the shaman/witch or whatever you want to call it!
I don't have kids, but I love kids. And kids love me too!
