Shamari Rockca
About Me
After living and touring the United States independently for about 9 years (San Francisco, Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Baton Rouge), Shamari Rockca relocated to Berlin, Germany after landing in Germany on March 24, 2011 in which thereafter he started living in an area between Prenzlauer Berg and Kreuzberg and touring Europe as he often travels between Scandinavia and Germany. His passion for music stems from childhood where his mother made him sing in the church as a child. His uncle taught him music theory up in Stockton, California. Micha Fendar joined along with Shamari Rockca on Bass Guitar while living in Prenzlauer Berg for the recording of “Point of View”, but decided to leave in 2011 and give up music after the song was recorded in Schoeneburg by the two of them. Shamari Rockca just moved on up and joined The JahOfYork Collective the same year in 2011 which was a 5-member Neo-Soul and Funk group as back-up vocalist and recorded a music video in Potsdam Studios. As of Dec. 1, 2012 Shamari Rockca finished his EP- titled “I defend myself,” with various European producers while living in Berlin, Germany, however but and now has just returned to the United States on Dec 8, 2012 to promote his release after living and touring Europe independently for over one year solid. Now living in Los Angeles, Shamari Rockca has re-grouped with The Optikonz;

Shamari Rockca – vocals

Stewart Tuttle – guitar

Harley Duggin – bass

Abe Gearig – drums

The power trio is currently setting up shows on the west coast between October 2014 and all of 2015 and beyond!!

We should jam sometime. I have to get my music equipment back from my neighbors first though. Bloody fire displaced me and all of my gear in different parts of NYC.

I'll try to make it out to the show next week.

Takes it easy!

I used to be well versed in Nadsat but now I can only squawk a Malenky bit.

My guitarist is out of town this week into next week so unfortunately I would not be able to play any of the spoon theatre shows. If you plan on throwing some Afropunk shows in March I'm sure I could help you find some artist and help you Promote the show. I'm looking for an excuse to help make Afropunk a Dominant scene in NYC.
