SiairaShawn seeks to be the conduit through which you feel the past, grasp the present, and envision what the future could be.
SiairaShawn is a singer, songwriter, performer, purveyor of aesthetics, arts educator, and youth worker; born and raised in San Francisco, California. She started singing at the ripe old age of three and her defining music moment came in elementary school when she played Alice in Alice in Wonderland and her solo received a standing ovation. That was the moment she knew that performing would be her life. She attended San Francisco School of the Arts with a concentration in theatre. She attended Howard University and graduated in 2006 from San Francisco State University with a degree in Communication Studies.
She performs and produces creative projects from sea to shining sea. She has shared stages with performers such as Goapele, Bilal, Bliz the Ambassador, Dwele, Zion I, and many more.
She has many influences from soul legends like Donny Hathaway to revolutionary thinkers such as Audre Lorde. SiairaShawn wants to bring a much needed light to the up and coming talent in the Bay Area and bring a level of artistry, creativity, and purpose to music that she believes the people deserve.
Thats amazingly strange. I had the same exact ideas to do. For shirts. Thats why I'm starting the line in the first place. Yeah Vashtie is AMAZING! B.G.C........ Please don't tell me that stands for Billionaire Girls Club? lol yeah but, my friend and I are going to start the clothing line together, hopefully once I get all of my careers together you and I can work together. The only thing bad about having a lot of....energy, lol is that sometimes I spread myself too thin. And I want to be the BEST at everything you know? Well, you're VERY talented so you know what I mean, but you're probably great at all you do. I'm going back to recording school in January....hopefully to learn the new equipment and what not. And I'm probably going to Howard to major in Journalism and minor in Political Science to get my magazine together. Would you be interested in journalism as well? Or in the Visual parts of it? I don't know if you have an aim, but mine is eyeojehovah if you do. talk to you later. -Nygo
Yeah. Activism and youth are deffinetly important. Well basically, I listen to music groups and decide whether or not to pass them onto creative services, whether they get signed or not. But, I'm going to start being the head of creative services, because I want to try something new. Well, I don't have the line up yet. lol but, I don't know kinda streetwear. Theres a young lady by the name of Vashtie Kola who has a line named Violette and I would like to work with her once I get it started. I mostly produce music for hip-hop. Underground. Thats where my heart is. I'm a big fan of like madvillian, flying lotus, 88-keys, and Brian Burton from Gnarls Barkley. So most of my stuff sounds like that. I'm about to go back to school to learn how to use the newer technology. I got my degree pretty young. Which is bad. lol
