From the needles and threads of a warehouse in Boston, Massachusetts comes Sweatshop. A band on a mission to bring a memorable live experience to the local scene with their unique hip-hop, beat rock sound. In only their first year of existence Sweatshop has already proven that they are a musical force to be reckoned with. Sweatshop is lead by MC Catch Wreck, hip-hop artist and well known Boston troublemaker. His controversial and conscious lyrics have already received praise from the likes of Public Enemy’s Chuck D, as well as Ice-T, who said, “[Catch Wreck] is what hip-hop needs”. After rocking with drummer Jonas Erm and bassist Mark Vincent for the first time, it became clear to the group that they were creating a sound that had been missing in the hip-hop scene. To complete the band, they needed UNregular Radio star and guitarist Dave Crespo, and former member of Big D and the Kids Table, vocalist Sirae Richardson.
Sweatshop will soon release their 5 song debut EP. In only six months of playing live shows, Sweatshop has been recognized as one of the best hip-hop/rock live acts in Boston. The Jamaica Plain Patch writes, “Sweatshop hammers out rock-driven hip-hop (or is it hip-hop driven rock?)”. Whatever you choose to call it, it can’t be ignored that Sweatshop is a band of provocative lyricists and talented musicians. Their motto: No gimmicks, no bullshitt. This is Sweatshop.
