TOBE NWIGWE

BBC Sound Of 2022 singer and rapper ENNY is a soulful, truth-talking lyricist of Nigerian heritage (London born and raised). Since her 2020 breakout single ‘Peng Black Girls’, the South East London breakthrough star has gone on to release a global charting COLORS set, a Jorja Smith remix, a thought provoking, fiery GRM Daily Duppy, and has been tipped
for 2022 musical success from the likes of The Guardian, BBC 1Xtra, Apple Music, No Signal Radio, MTV & more! Influenced by her Mother’s Gospel records, her Dad’s jazz records and her siblings playing hip-hop, garage and indie tunes around the house it’s clear to see how all of these elements helped shape Enny’s rich sound coupled with her conscious, impeccable songwriting skills.
In the summer of 2021, ENNY released her debut project ‘Under Twenty Five’ which bares sentiment as a personal pillar of growth for ENNY but came from a “day in the life” reflection on the struggles of a Black woman. The songs on the 7-track extended play are a reflection of the artist’s journey – especially in her early 20s. Through this project, ENNY touches on the dissatisfaction that came with working 9 to 5, the anxiety of getting older, and her musical journey so far. With her debut EP speaking volumes and connecting via real stories with her fans old and new, Enny has been on the trajectory to becoming one of the leading voices in our golden generation of UK rap. Two years on musically and two years on into womanhood, in April 2023 ENNY released her Care Package (not EP!) ‘We Go Again’ - a six-track collection that was crafted by the artist over six months to be lovingly referred to as a care package. Speaking on We Go Again, ENNY says “After I dropped my first EP I was so convinced I’d never drop another project again, because I felt like I had said everything I wanted to say. These songs weren’t made to be a project they were created in random pockets of sessions throughout the past 18 months but life has turned them into a gift. A gift of growth and change; a gift to myself as a reminder that I’m still capable, and a gift to the people that have joined me so far on this journey. A care package. I’m learning there’s not a destination in this life thing.
it's a constant journey of learning to do better. The lesson I’m learning right now is that after every F*ck up, the only thing I can tell myself is fam...We go again.” 2023 is shaping up to be another standout year for ENNY. Following the release of her Care Package and singles Champagne Problems, No More Naija Men & Charge It, she’s covered magazines, been the face of national JD sports campaigns, gracing the biggest global playlist covers like - Pollen (Spotify), racked up over 100m streams across her catalogue, performed on Tonight with Target and continued to become a mainstay presence across BBC Radio where she reached A-List at 1Xtra and B-List at Radio1. An artist who can comfortably hold her own with a wide range of collaborators such as Unknown T, Loyle Carner & Jorja Smith to name just a few, ENNY has continued to eschew trends in UK rap to instead focus on soulful, narrative-heavy songs music that frequently shines a light on important social issues across the country.
