"Do you hate cleaning your house? We do too!!!!!Pop these tunes on in the background and watch how easy it is to clean away!!!!! If you like it, share it! If you hate it, share it! Chances are you know someone else who hates cleaning their house…"

WHO LIKES SOME OF DAT FUNK AND SOUL??

Blaring horns, nasty drum breaks and percussion, and some serious syncopation. Add to that some innovative bass melody chops, chunky/scratchy guitars, sweet soulful vocals with with loud gospel-esque preaching.

How are you doing m8?
I am listening to the Soul of John Black that you recommended: I love it, I can hear lots of diffrent influences melted in his music. I checked the other guy Tye Tribett too; althoug I am not into christian music, I have to reckon the power of gospel music and his modern interpretation of it.

I first got interested in Johnny Guitar Watson after listening the first album of Redman, which samples "Superman Lover" all the way through, then got really into his music upon hearing from his death in the late 90s.
He was a hell of a guitarist and seemed to be on of the coolest singer ever, yet another godfather of funk and rap.

I don't have many new stuff to listen to these days, I've been enjoying the latest TVontheRadio lately (even though at first listen it had kept me of ice for some reason) I really realize that those guys are excellent song writers.
Apart from that, I've been listening to some old BASEHEAD (from the early 90s) he was doing a kind of old lazy rap with acoustic guitars and dj, but he eventually changed his musical orientation when he turned into a christian.
I went to a few concert in Paris: Saul Williams in Feb, Dragons of Zynth at the end of 2008, and I met with the band Milk Plus and am planning to see Sabatta this evening both London based.

Do you play the guitar? seeing how much you enjoy those musicians, you should, plus you're based in Canada, where there are really good manufacturers Godin (keziah Jones), Art de Lutherie, Simon & Patrick...

Hi M8,Sorry that I couldn't come back to you earlier.
I've given up a bit on keziah Jones for the moment, even if I know that I'll eventually buy the album. As for Bloc Party; I listened to their new album too, and didn't like it either, their sound has become much more electronic, and lost a fair amount of soul (or it seems at the first listen). However,I've been really into the Dears these past weeks (I bought 4 of their cds in 3 weeks!). I have to say that I am not exclusive at all in what I listen, I enjoy my Jimi Hendrix and My Arthur Lee, my Funkadelic, and my Apollo Height, The Dears and I 've just been introduce to the latest album
...Metallica (never thought this band could be that enjoyable - produced by Rick Rubin, it must explain a little bit).
For the dears, what is strange is that at the first listen, the songs can sound a bit cheesy, but each time you listen, you discover a new layer of instrument.
I've been listening to their latest for 3 or more weeks now, and my favorite song keeps changing.
To listen to music online for free, I go to deezer.com, which is mostly used in France I think.
I'll try to check the Nadir this week, I'll let you know.

much music in England ? What do you mean ? new stuff ?
well there's at least the new Bloc Party that you can listen for free on the same link as The Dears' new album, but that I can't, because it is only allowed to people in Canada. So let me know what it's worth (I have their 2 other albums, and quite like them, so I will probably get this one as well anyway)
