This dude made a remake of the "Thriller" song that he entirely recorded with his own voice, using 64 A'cappella tracks. There is therefore no instrument, synthetizer, beatbox, or even a sampler, but only the sound of his voice livened up with Reverb and slight Chorus on certain tracks.
He accomplished this non-commercial project at home, only with a mobile PC, microphone, headphones and webcam - in nearly 350… Continue

The past couple of weeks have been an experience in itself. We had the chance to go to our Alma mater of Morehouse College for homecoming. It was great to see our friends and catch up on our lives. You have a different perspective on your experience in college once you have become a graduate. Some things you miss and some you definitely never want to deal with again, but all in all, it's worth it. There is nothing that can really replace the… Continue

There at it again. Yes those NYC mavins of 80's through back are back yet again with a new skit. Now they not only dress 80's they perform 80's. I began seeing these dude a while ago in the industry scene of the city at all the cool kids parties, not the rap group, Cool Kidz - who have a striking similar approach to style - not that they jocking the Retro kidz but hey the Retro's are from NYC where that shit jumped off, dancing and wearing track… Continue

Just wanted to give a big thanks again to Afro-punk for last night's show. Our band Nova Clutch opened up the night and from the moment the first note was hit, til the last note was played around 4 a.m. it was non-stop rocking. All the band's were great.
So nice to have come into contact with you all. Nice to meet Matthew too!
Please keep us updated on future events and anytime you need Nova Clutch's services again, just let us know.
Ive had it for about a year now and yesterday I had to take it out for like 10 minutes.
Then BAM, the bitch closed on me. And it hurt like a motherbitch to try and push through again.
Its not fair! Call me a big baby but I cried lol.
I blame JROTC. Thats why I had to take it out in the first place...a-holes lol
But its cool. I'll just get it repierced come Spring Break.
....and so, it shall be done

I love this dude he's just so...himself. He's an openly gay, dirty punk, drug coping Black ball of fun. The things that just pop out of his mouth are just crazy, no pun intended. Its refreshing to meet people like him and just go...wow. LOL. He's from cali and his in various bands including but not only limited to Gravy train
- Brontez and Gravy train at the highline ballroom.… Continue
Lemmy details his life from childhood through the middle of this decade and regales you with plenty of tales of prodigious drug abuse, womanizing, sketchy record company dealings, and road stories worthy of Spinal Tap. If you know who Lemmy is, you can probably guess what an entertaining read this was. A few times I stopped reading to literally laugh out loud. This would make for a great audiobook or travel read.
First of all want to thank all of you mughs that wished a brother Happy Birthday this past Saturday. It was very touching. I'm blessed to have another year behind me and enthusiasm about what lays before me. RAWK!
So, I'm here now to let you let you cats know that the preparations for URB ALT @ CMJ are going tremendously well. It all goes down on 10/24 at Crash Mansion. If you've never been to the venue you are in for a serious… Continue

Before it was trendy to rock monroes and snakebites, and a skateboard was a part of your swag, there were the black hardcore punk pioneers Bad Brains. Before Vans became a hit song and Lupe encouraged folks to “Kick, Push,” there were the Atlanta punks of The Slack Republic. Before Pharrell warned us about the “f*ckin posers,” people knew the band on their t-shirt because they were die hard fans. Before vests and skinny jeans were commonplace… Continue
Aubrey O'Day and D. Woods have been kicked out of Danity Kane (oh no!!!), Babs, Murda Mook, and Lady Luck have a pretty freestyle session on worldstarhiphop (awesomeness), and the Red Sox are being manhandled by the Tampa Bay Rays (don't mention this to Carlton, he's quiet upset).
We recently had a chance to play at the Atlanta Ice House with Timber, Mad Happy, The Extraordinary Contraptions, and Tristen. Everyone brought their own brand of fantastic music to the stage and the… Continue

#18 Westside: Young Men and Hip Hop in LA by William Shaw.
This book was good but not really what I expected. This book was written in 97, prior to the file sharing era. Instead of interviewing left coast luminaries like Ice T and Snoop, Shaw focuses on people struggling to get on. Fledgeling MCs going from dreary talent show to overhyped music conference to hustling umbrellas and "trees" to renegade staple gun street promotion. The most hopeful outcome at the end of the book was Ice Cube… Continue
