“I fought for exactly what I wanted in my closet.” - Kanye West (Style interview, February 16th, 2015) There's a lot to criticize Kanye West for. We have leveled our share of criticism in the past (and will probably continue to in the future), but the level of criticism he's getting for his recent Adidas Originals line doesn't sound like criticism of his designs, it sounds like criticism of who he is. In a world where of the 470 members of the Council of…Continue

Rare color photographs taken by the late photographer Gordon Parks will be exhibited this fall at The High Museum of Art in Atlanta. The photos, which were originally taken for a photo essay for Life Magazine in 1956, depict the African American experience of 1950s Alabama, and the racial tensions that dominated the United States at the time (images via Huffington Post).

This past weekend, so much black beauty has flooded my Instagram and Facebook feeds and I am just loving it! Although I wasn’t down in New Orleans living it up at the Essence Fest, I took part in my own little July 4th tradition and spent my Saturday and Sunday at the International African Arts Festival, held in Commodore Barry Park! Whether you were down in NOLA or right here in BK, it is such a great feeling to be surrounded by and indulge in the vibrant and positives vibes of…Continue

Spice it up! This summer is all about patterns and vibrant, strong colors. Whether one patterned piece or a matching pant and shirt set, adding some funky, chic and unique patterns to your wardrobe is a must for the summer. There are certain clothing items that I have to convince myself are a necessity, but there was no doubt in my mind after my first glance at De La Sébure that one of their pieces would need to be in my possession. There is something so glorious, loving,…Continue
This summer I am completely here for the very flowy relaxed outfits—starting simple and building off of a fresh palette is the way to go. For some reason I just have a great feeling about this summer, and maybe that is because I just completed final exams and look forward to long days of soaking up sun, art, laying on the grass, listening to music, biking, exploring, eating, and being the free spirit that I am. Go out with a kick this summer! Pair a t-shirts and jean shorts or a…Continue

I also love to share some of my Haitian heritage with my followers because to me where I'm from really matters and is a very important part of my story. I recently started a headwrap line called, "Fanm Djanm". In my language, it means "Strong Woman."
I'm starting with the headwrap because:…

One for the collectors! AP member dcscorpiongirl told us she wanted to share her collection of flyers. She gathered them from punks around the world (1980-2002). She says: "I am from Washington, DC, so there's a strong focus on bands like Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Fugazi, and Dischord bands, as well as bands from South Africa, Brazil, Peru, Colombia and more."
The flyers are compiled into an eBook that you can download for free by clicking…
