All the fuss seems to be about Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee... Whateva, the best part was Grace Jones performing her timeless banger 'Slave To The Rhythm'. She showed up eccentric as ever, hula-hooped throughout the song, and best of all, didn't seem to know why she was there: she wished the Queen a "happy birthday" at the end (watch video below). The Queen's birthday is April 21, isn't it? Love ya Grace...
In other news, The Guardian reports that "long-term…

This week, everyone seems to be buzzing about late rapper Tupac's "appearance" at Coachella as a hologram. Most people were just wowed by the surprise effect. But our acquaintance Kelly Virella (from Dominion of New York) shared quite a different point of view. She wrote: "I was a fan of his before he was killed and own a few of his CDs. (...) (a fave with AP readers) - who ended up giving the middle-finger to the millions of viewers, but we wouldn't expect less from her (see video below).
Overall, a very…

So it's Black History Month. Most media outlets are busy honoring the usual historical figures of African descent, as they should. But this is Afro-punk, and it's time to take minute to acknowledge the ultimate counter-culture soldier, Ms. Bad-Ass herself, singer/songwriter/performer/model/actress Grace Jones. I don't care how old you are, you need to know that Grace owns this shit, the timeless talent, the "fuck you" attitude, the outrageous fashion, the political lyrics. Don't…

If you've witnessed spoken word and performance artist Ursula Rucker's Live shows, you know she always brings the intensity, the raw emotion, that good stuff!
