AP Quickie: New Skunk Anansie Album Coming September 17 On Their Own Label!

'Black Traffic'. That's the title of classic UK rock band Skunk Anansie's upcoming album, to be released on September 17 (the first to be released through their own label, in partnership with 100% Records). Lead singer Skin says it better: "We've wanted to be in charge of our own destiny for many years. The doom and gloom merchants may whine about the music industry, but we've seen it as a positive chance to re-invent how we work and take more control over our art form. (...)…

(Comedian?) Grace Jones Hula Hoops & Says "Happy Birthday" at Elizabeth II Jubilee

All the fuss seems to be about Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee... Whateva, the best part was Grace Jones performing her timeless banger 'Slave To The Rhythm'. She showed up eccentric as ever, hula-hooped throughout the song, and best of all, didn't seem to know why she was there: she wished the Queen a "happy birthday" at the end (watch video below). The Queen's birthday is April 21, isn't it? Love ya Grace...

In other news, The Guardian reports that "long-term…

AP Quickie: Kele Fired From Bloc Party?

WTF is going on? :-P Kele Okereke told NME.com that his bandmates from Bloc Party went into the recording studio without inviting him or letting him know about it. "I hope I haven't been fired. I don't really know what's going on, because we haven't really spoken recently and I'm a bit too scared to ask", he reportedly said. Whether he's fired or not, it must be strange to be in a band that doesn't let you clearly know if you're still a member, dontcha… Continue

"Crusty punks are, generally, irritating and useless pieces of shit. That’s not to say that we don’t have crusty friends or crusty tendencies. We do. And we like a lot of crusty music. But those are the exceptions. Most people of the crusty persuasion are wastes of flesh.

But we sure do love what they wear!..." Check out the dope jackets below!
