The album 'Master of My Make-Believe' is due out May 1st. Check out the art below + making-of video + 2 songs off the album.…

With the recent release of Red Tails, there has been a lot of discussion about the ongoing lack of people of color in Hollywood and what to do about it. It’s cute that George Lucas thinks he can change the game with some awesome special effects (wrapped in a gossamer-thin plot), but finding a place in the mainstream market with big-budget blockbusters is really just as well. What I think is also important, more important, is making sure that those smaller, more…

Singer/musician William DuVall likes to keep himself busy. You would think being the frontman for Alice In Chains would keep him occupied but instead, DuVall has a good number of projects going on all at once. He hit Chile for a couple festival gigs with AIC recently. He is still working on post-production on a film dealing with the punk rock scene in Atlanta during the 80’s while also producing some bands on the side, and he somehow found the time to direct another documentary…

Thundercat’s debut album is a gorgeous minimalist jazzy soundscape. Featured on the LP are interpolations of collaborations with other artists (Flying Lotus on “Mmmhmm” and Shafiq Husayn on “Love Still Hurts”). The light experimentation and free-form song structures are more in line with label Brainfeeder’s unconventional style, while the jazz elements are reminiscent of Peralta’s Endless Planets. Even a little bit of ‘80s electronic funk influences make its way onto the album.… Continue

Yeah yeah, this video was released a few months ago, so why talk about it now you ask? Well stop raining on our parade and just check out AP members Solillaquists of Sound's 'Gotham City Chase Scene' mini-movie. It was shot in Orlando, DIY-style, "on a zero dollar budget", although it's impossible to tell by watching the incredible finished product. "A true community effort", says the band, directed by X:144… Continue

As a law student in the sweltering urban jungle that is Miami, I often come face-to-face with young Haitians who, at my age, have already lived the lives of 20 men. Most Haitian youth came to Miami by boat when they were 3 or 4 years old, and never became full blown citizens. When these kids break the law in ANY way - even if it's just a traffic violation - they are rounded up, taken by bus to Louisiana, and kept in a detention center until they are eventually deported to a… Continue
