AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

Black Fashion By Javii x Afropunk Festival '12 - Gordon Voidwell

There's going to be an abundance of acts at this years AFROPUNK Fest. One act I'm excited to see is the New York native, musician, writer and producer Will Johnson. Johnson, best known by his stage name/alter ego Gordon Voidwell is also a fashion writer and style enthusiast. His style is irreverent, inspiring and outrageous at times.Throughout the years Voidwell's style has changed from vintage Chanel bommer jackets to talored blazers and skinny ties. From Jeans to African Inspired prints and more. Voidwell went from writing fashion articles, wearing garbage bags to releasing his 2010 single "Ivy League Circus" in conjunction with Ralph Lauren.
In an interview with thegamine.com Voidwell says fashion-wise he's inspired by "the black skinhead movement (unrelated to Nazism; horrible name, I know), Tropicalismo, Dadaism," among other things.
