12-year-old literacy advocate marley dias is publishing an activism guide for children and teens

12-year-old literary advocate and activist Marley Dias is publishing an activism guide for kids and teens, as announced by Scholastic. Dais, who is known for the #1000BlackGirlBooks after growing tired of reading books about “white boys and dogs”, expressed excitement over her new book in a recent press release: “I am so excited to be doing this book with Scholastic,” said Marley “All my friends can probably only name one publishing house and that is Scholastic; they are everywhere. Scholastic is the perfect partner for spreading my message of diversity, inclusion and social action.” The forthcoming nonfiction book will target children 10 and older and will teach young people how to channel their interests and passions into action, how to use social media for good, and introduce them to social justice, activism, volunteerism, equity, and inclusion. The book is scheduled for release sometime in 2018.
