2008 Afro-Punk Festival - Recap In Pictures

As we're starting to prepare the 2009 Afro-Punk Festival, it's time for a little throwback to reminisce about all the fun we had at the 2008 Festival. And to those of you who were there, please share your memories with us!
For its 4th edition, the Afro-Punk Festival was bigger than ever. 7 days, over 40 bands, a skate park, BMX demos, live painting by graffiti artists, and most importantly, you, the Community, who came by the thousands to join this celebration of creativity and freedom. It all took place in Brooklyn, NY July 5th to 13th 2008 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music Parking Lot, then at the Fort Greene Park, and ended with a Block Party on Clinton Avenue. So many good memories!
All the shows were free! Acts who performed include Tamar-Kali, Afrika Bambaataa, Kudu, Janelle Monae, Game Rebellion, Millsted, The Smyrk, J*DaVeY, Murs, Cipher, Whole Wheat Bread, The Carps and many more. If you missed it, here's a glimpse of what went on. Make sure you join us this year for the 5th edition, as we keep on nurturing the best in music, film and performance art.
