AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

Ok, so sometimes i go to shows and its hard to start the pit up, or me and like 4 other people are the only ones moshing. Im not having that shit at the festival, so anybody who's going to the festival, and needs a mosh partner, or has trouble starting up the pit, or needs someone to kick in the face. see me in the pit. i most definitely will be in the cipher pit. otherwise. just take a look around and find the fat guy going crazy lol.

thanks mr. kurtz for felling my pain. i love a positive pit. ive had the exact opposite happen to me. At some shows, there are gangs of at least 7 or 8 that attend and start fights in pits. they target a guy, and hit them "by accident" repeatedly until that person reacts. When that person decides to fight back. he gets jumped by the whole crew. The fuckers targeted me once and i caught a mean ass kick to the back of the head. couldnt do a dam thing about it..
people who start shit suck. and i go to shows to have fun and keep a positive vibe while doing it...

and im sorry for the misunderstanding. by a cipher pit.
i meant that i was gonna start the pit when the band "cipher" performs....
and that i did.....very well lol

I feel the same as Kamikaze. I love mosh pits especially the kind that are rough but still positive vibes..... I went to a show in Vancouver (Tranzmitors) in March, where the place was packed, and the music sounded pretty punk but everyone was just standing around. They looked like a kinda student crowd, and I wanted to dance but got warned that I'd "get my ass kicked" if i tried to start a pit. It was like a weak bar crowd where there happened to be a band playing. Weak. The next night Agent Orange was playing at this dive rougher than the Mos Eisley cantina, and everyone was moshing, even a dude in a wheelchair, and the vibe was super positive, if you got thrown down you were immediately helped up, especially the guy in the wheelchair cause he couldnt really get up himself, anyway it was just a big contrast. Anyway though I guess I wont make the festival being stuck up here in the heart of dankness (the relative humidity, not so much the cronj) but my angry spirit will be in there moshing up a storm!!!!

Also I wanted to ask what a Cipher pit was, it sounds to me like it might be kinda like a Circle Slam which is what we pasty white punkers in the North call a pit where everybody flails and skanks around in a circular direction, which seems to me kinda like an evolution (degeneration??) of the reggae and ska styles of dancing from the 60s and 70s which is what the early Punks and Skinheads used to listen to before Punk Rock was recorded. So really in my opinion Punk is a musical phenomenon based on RocknRoll with the political vibes and DIY culture of Reggae too. anyway i am getting horribly off topic, and must return to the cold embrace of the tomb. mwahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!
