actress-activist amandla stenberg exudes radiance in her dazed editorial

February 15, 2017

Ahead of her new movie “Where Hands Touch,” Amandla Stenberg graces the cover of Dazed in true Black Girl Magic fashion. The Amma Asante directed film is set in Nazi Germany and tells the story of the biracial children who lived through that era. In the interview, where Amandla was joined by the director, they share an inspiring intimacy and camaraderie that is usually kept to the background of a major production, the affection generally only seen during award shows and the like. In the shoot, Amandla dons a shaved head, a requirement of the part she’s playing in “Where Hands Touch,” and she had this to say about the process: “I feel like my belief in myself – my acceptance of myself, my ethnicity, my blackness, my everything – is there whether or not I have hair. And so I think it was important for a period to have my hair be a symbol of self-love, but now I know that my self-love is there, whether I’m bald or have a full ’fro.” Witness her glory in all of its splendor in these photos and check out the interview on Dazed’s website.
