Afro-punk Family, though we have tried everything in our power to maintain the dates of the Afro-punk festival this weekend despite the expected hurricane, after numerous meetings with the city, parks department, our sponsors and countless others, we are unable to move forward with the festival this weekend. The expected inclimate weather poses a great safety risk for all participating/attending, and subsequently we have been instructed to cancel the outdoor festival.Comment

Comment by Lunakiss on August 29, 2011 at 6:39pm The "sincere" efforts afforded to maintain the dates are much appreciated. Afterall, the staff, sponsors and participants planned a community production for $0.00. Everything happens for a reason(s), right!?!?! I went to the park anyway. I found it a beautiful day, so me and the rest of the organic life enjoyed the festivities in spirit. It was like ya'll were there, and the show went on. The energy from the Afrikan festival they've also hold there preserves! Thx!
