Afro-punk Festival 2011 Cancelled for This Weekend

Afro-punk Family, though we have tried everything in our power to maintain the dates of the Afro-punk festival this weekend despite the expected hurricane, after numerous meetings with the city, parks department, our sponsors and countless others, we are unable to move forward with the festival this weekend. The expected inclimate weather poses a great safety risk for all participating/attending, and subsequently we have been instructed to cancel the outdoor festival.
Our ENTIRE team has been working tirelessly around the clock, meeting with authorities, partners and sponsors to avoid cancelation. Thank you and we will get back to you with our plans to reschedule.

So sorry, after all that hard work to make it come together.  But remember, Afro-punk fans are super loyal - we'll be there if you are able to reschedule.  Let your sponsors know that.

re-scheduled it on a other date? or place? But adversity coming from skies sounds odd to me.Are you sure you didn't vex any pagan entity, lol../.

If you come to  http://fr-fr.facebook.com/pages/FESTIVAL-BLACK-BASQUE/126403157444954...there won't be weather problem...

After months of dreaming about greens from the Smoke Joint in Brooklyn followed by Joi, Res, Tamar-Kali, Straight Line Stitch, and others, all I get is an Irene. Hope it can be re-scheduled. Stay safe my fellow NYers.

I thought atleast 1 of the 2 days would be possible. I guess NYC is taking the storm rather seriously. Good thing it's predicted to be downgraded to a 1 instead of the 2 they originally thought. Hopefully it can be rescheduled sometime before winter and most of the headliners can be retained.
