afropunk exclusive: ‘when we were kings’ comic – chapter 2

August 31, 2015

AFROPUNK exclusively publishes a new multartist web comic, ‘When We Were Kings’. The series, created by Alverne Ball, is a post-apocalyptic story that examines the human nature of survival and its toll on the physical and mental stability of a former astronaut; exploring the perception of human connection, the loss of social laws, and the diminishing of natural resources as it correlates to modern-day life. The series will feature some of the comic industry’s “rising star” Black and Latino artists, such as three-time Glyph award-winning artist Jason Reeves; Serena Guerra, colorist of Image comic’s Mice Templar; Geo Devilla; Ashley A. Woods; Quinn McGowen; Ren McKinzie; and Michael Watson (with coloring by Santosh Kumar Rath, lettering by Jaymes Reed, and editing by Chakira Lane).
Here is Chapter 2!

Stay tuned for Chapter 3 next Monday!
