afropunk premiere: ap london performer and folk-n-soul artist purple ferdinand shares jazz-y, self-empowerment anthem ‘courage’

September 23, 2016

Lovely new tune by UK folk-n-soul artist Purple Ferdinand to start your weekend off. The AFROPUNK London performer’s latest single, ‘Courage’, is a gorgeous, jazz-y folk track about a renewed sense of belief and faith in one’s self and using that as motivation to fearlessly pursue your dreams. “I was feeling defeated and out of my element and I needed to almost say it aloud to release the thoughts and fears I had. My perception was leading me to believe I didn’t have it in me to do what I already was capable of. I started writing it to vent and it ended up feeling empowering to just put it out there,” Purple Ferdinand told AFROPUNK.

“In the song I say a line “a heart full is never too much” Almost like my moment of realisation; reminding me my passion’s always my drive and putting my heart on the line for what I believe in is something So vulnerable and risky but true and uplifting; I’ve learn to appreciate that within myself with this song.”

You can stream ‘Courage’ for free, down below, and you can also catch Purple Ferdinand’s performance at the inaugural AFROPUNK London this Saturday, September 24. Tickets: http://afropunkfest.com/london/tickets/
