afropunk premiere: hip-house collective bon voyage releases new single, “don’t tread on me”

Check out the latest single by hip-house collective Bon Voyage, “Don’t Tread On Me.” “Don’t Tread On Me” is a high-tempo, simple, club banger that’s mainly supported by the very listable voice of Shamon Cassette and a sample of Suzanne Vega’s “Tom’s Diner”: a re-working of Hugo Montenegro’s “I Dream of Jeannie” theme.

“The title and topline came from recurring nightmare I’ve been having about this enormous pair of sneakers chasing me. They’re as big as a house and they’re trying to stomp all over me like I’m a damn bug. It’s real scary. Then I also say something about getting hot and hitting the jackpot, which I think is pretty self explanatory to all my temperature-sensitive gamblers out there,” Cassette tells AFROPUNK.
