afropunk premiere: mickey lightfoot debuts exclusive afropunk mix ft. fka twigs, toro y moi and more, plus his latest single ‘anxious’

February 2, 2016

London-based experimental hip-hop artist Mickey Lightfoot (ML) debuts an exclusive AFROPUNK mix, ‘Dressed For No Occassion’, a party-ready collection of seamless remixes featuring songs by FKA Twigs, Toro Y Moi, Jeremih, Allan Kingdom, Paris Shields, Grimes, and PartyNextDoor. Listen to all of ML’s awesomeness down below.

But, wait—there’s more! ML recently dropped his latest single, ‘Anxious’ an electro-soul track from his forthcoming EP ‘Wearing The Rent’. “I’d had enough of that Anxiety. I’d had enough of worrying about high rent prices, my future, my health and more. So I put it on the record as some form of cathartic therapy. My hope is those who can relate, listen and also shed a few pounds of anxiety,” ML tells AFROPUNK.

“The body of work is titled ‘Wearing The Rent’ as a knock at the rising, unaffordable rental prices in London. The very idea that when I was writing the track, I just might of had to sell the shirt on my back to keep up the flat and studio payments, compelled me to name it so.” ‘Wearing The Rent’ is scheduled for release sometime later this month—stay tuned.
