afropunk premiere: ‘puppeteer’ – the new single from brooklyn soul musician stephan marcellus

July 10, 2015

Today we’re premiering the new song from Brooklyn soul musician Stephan Marcellus, ‘Puppeteer’ – a singer/songwriter influenced by musical greats such as Nat King Cole and Bob Marley, and taught by jazz songstress Ledisi. His camp describe the single as a “ballad with more than piano that shares the emotions and actions of being hurt’. Marcellus tells us: ” My music is alternative soul. That “feel it in your heart” sound. The essence of ‘Puppeteer’ is the realization that you may be broken. Allowing someone else to teach you how to trust again and ultimately how to love is the ultimate forgiveness of the past memory.” Listen below.
