Il est temps à présent de vous dévoiler l’invité surprise de cette soirée qui s’annonce exceptionnelle puisque c’est Michael Kiwanuka qui montera sur scène! Le britannique qui mêle l’intimité de la folk à l’élégance de la soul se produira pour un showcase dont les places sont en vente dès maintenant (nous vous rappelons que le showcase est gratuit pour les spectateurs déjà inscrits pour la projection).
L’After-Party aura lieu au Comptoir Général, partenaire des événements Race Music à Paris.

AFROPUNK presents Race Music in Paris, a series of curated film screenings and after parties:
With the name Race Music – which comes from the term “Race records”, the first releases of jazz, blues and gospel albums from the early 1920’s to the late 1940’s -, the spotlight is on African-American modern History: from the first fights against segregation to the Black Lives Matter movement, including the Black Power Era in the 70’s, and the birth of musical trends that surrounded this History (bebop, hip-hop, rhythm’n’blues, soul and rock’n’roll).
Race Music is a series of evenings presented by AFROPUNK in New York, Atlanta and now Paris, that includes a movie screening about African American History, followed by a musical event connected to the movie. For this first Parisian edition, the documentary ‘The Black Panthers: Vanguard Of The Revolution’ will be premiered in France On March 22nd at La Maroquinerie.
Played for the first time at Sundance in early 2015, nominee and awarded at many festivals, the Stanley Nelson Jr movie focuses – according to its director – on a historical movement with a contemporary eye, far removed from the approximative clichés collected over the years.
The movie will be followed by showcase by Michael Kiwanuka! Tickets are available HERE. An After-Party will take place at Le Comptoir Général, Race Music’s partner in Paris.
