Andre 3000 Will Play Jimi Hendrix In Biopic

Rumors had been circulating for a minute, some said Jimi Hendrix's estate initially refused to authorize the use of his music in the movie. But
The Irish Film & Television Network (IFTN) revealed that ‘All Is By My Side’, the Jimi biopic project starring Outkast's Andre 3000, is moving forward. Filming/production will reportedly begin later this month in Ireland, under director John Ridley's watch.
"The film will be set in 1966 and 1967 and cover the period in which Hendrix was discovered in a New York club by Rolling Stone guitarist Keith Richard’s then girlfriend Linda Keith. She subsequently introduced Hendrix to manager Chas Chandler who brought Hendrix to London in 1966, where he recorded his debut album ‘Are You Experienced’ and had his first taste of success", writes the IFTN.
Will you go see it when it's released? - Lou C-D

* Update:
Turns Out Jimi Hendrix's Estate Doesn't Support The Biopic. The movie is still a go though.

 If they are going to record jimi hendrix from that point in his life his girlfriend faith/fay and the twins come in and they need to put those key elements in the movie how jimi and faye where tight together just to survive and the comedy of the twins checking him out before he met keith richards girlfriend

Anybody heard anything about the Hendrix estate cooperating on the music rights?

I Would love to see this movie when it comes out as a fan of Jimi Hendrix and as a fan of Andre 3000.  I just hope they can honor his memory properly

And I agree with Chae Lee & CE, the acting & accent could make this go either way.

I will go see it.  Can't front though, the casting of Andre 3000 (who is an excellent actor as shown in Revolver) has me questioning the project somewhat and not using Jimi's music creates more doubts.  The Wood Harris film suffered because of this and I hope this doesn't meet the same fate.

I had heard about the Hughes Bros developing one with Terence Howard as the lead  but that never happened.  At least a Black director, John Ridley, at the helm.  We'll see.

Heard that the Hendrix family is giving the film problems with using original music just like they did with the Wood Harris movie. Hope they can work this out because the movie won't be too great without the music...

Not that I don't fully support Andre!

Hmmm, just wondering if Lenny Kravitz was ever in the decision process for the movie...
